The mark
Built on ratios, not eyeballs.
Most of what we make is meant to go unnoticed. The mark is the part you can see — one S drawn as two currents around a still gold dot — so it carries the whole standard. This page documents the system that keeps it exact.
Geometry
The unit is s — the ink height of the wordmark's lowercase s. The symbol stands 2.42 s tall. The gap between symbol and wordmark is 1.05 s. And the symbol rides 3% off pure geometric centering, because optics outrank arithmetic. At the 32-pixel header size, the ratios hold to the subpixel.

The dot
The dot is the mark's center of gravity — and the only place the gold is guaranteed to appear. It keeps a clear ring of at least half its own diameter; the lower current of the S approaches that ring and stops. Below 16 pixels the ring cannot survive, so the mark is simply never set smaller.
Color
The palette is closed: two grounds, one ivory, two golds. Nothing else, ever. The golds are calibrations, not choices — each is tuned to carry the same perceived weight against its own ground. Swap them and one glares while the other disappears. They never trade places, and they never share a surface.
On these pages the gold is spent deliberately: the locked mark, hairline rules, a link under your cursor, the numerals, one quiet bloom on the home page, and the footer's Now building token. Scarcity is what keeps it gold.
Motion
The dot breathes: a 6% swell and release every 3.5 seconds, eased symmetrically so the motion has no attack and no flourish. On arrival it breathes three times, then rests. The echoes that ripple outward exist only in motion — they are never drawn as static artwork, because a still echo is a contradiction. For visitors who prefer reduced motion, the mark simply rests.
Surfaces
The system doesn't stop at the page. The same geometry holds at every size it will ever be asked to occupy — a browser tab, a home screen, a shared link — reproduced from the locked masters, never redrawn.
